Prolapse Care & Hysterectomy Recovery
Recovery following pelvic organ prolapse or hysterectomy requires specialised and informed rehabilitation. These conditions and surgeries can significantly affect pelvic floor function, core stability, posture, confidence, and overall quality of life. Many women feel uncertain about what exercise is safe, effective, or appropriate during recovery.
Our approach to pelvic organ prolapse and hysterectomy recovery focuses on safe, progressive rehabilitation that supports healing while restoring functional strength. As an Exercise Physiologist with extensive experience in women’s pelvic health, Liz works closely with you to rebuild strength and movement confidence without increasing symptoms or excessive pressure through the pelvic floor.
Rehabilitation programs focus on improving coordination between the pelvic floor, core, hips, and breathing system, while gradually reintroducing strength, balance, and functional movement. Education around pressure management, posture, lifting techniques, and daily activities is an essential part of recovery, supporting long-term symptom management and confidence.
Programs are individually tailored based on your surgery type, symptoms, stage of recovery, and personal goals. This may include returning to exercise, work, family responsibilities, or simply feeling comfortable and supported in your body again.
We also recognise the emotional impact of pelvic surgery. Recovery can feel overwhelming, and reassurance, clarity, and guidance are essential. With the right rehabilitation and support, many women regain strength, control, and confidence to return to daily life feeling empowered and capable.
