Pelvic Floor Care
Pelvic floor dysfunction, urinary or bowel incontinence, and abdominal separation, known as diastasis recti, are common conditions, but they are not something you have to live with. These concerns can affect women at many stages of life, including pregnancy, post-partum recovery, perimenopause and menopause, and following abdominal or pelvic surgery.
Symptoms may include bladder or bowel leakage, pelvic heaviness or pressure, reduced core strength, pelvic or lower back pain, and difficulty exercising with confidence. Many women are advised to “just do kegels” or to avoid certain movements altogether; however, effective pelvic floor rehabilitation requires a far more comprehensive and individualised approach.
As an Exercise Physiologist specialising in women’s health and pelvic floor rehabilitation, Liz takes a functional, whole-body approach to pelvic health. Pelvic floor function is closely connected to breathing patterns, posture, hip strength, core coordination, and how the body moves during daily activities, rather than isolated muscle contractions alone.
Your program focuses on restoring coordination, strength, and control through tailored exercises that integrate the pelvic floor with the core, hips, and diaphragm. We also provide guidance on safe lifting, exercise modification, and a gradual return to strength training or higher-impact exercise when appropriate.
Education is central to our care, helping you understand your body, reduce fear around movement, and rebuild confidence in everyday activities. With the right support, many women experience improved continence, stronger core function, and renewed confidence in movement.
